About Wealmoor Ltd:
Wealmoor Ltd is a long‑established, forward‑thinking, family‑owned business specialising in the growing, packing, and marketing of subtropical fruits and vegetables sourced globally, alongside the production of UK‑grown seasonal crops. With farming operations in countries such as Peru, Kenya, The Gambia, Spain, Brazil, and Senegal, Wealmoor is committed to sustainable sourcing and making a positive impact on surrounding communities and environments. This mission is further supported through the Wealmoor Way Foundation, which delivers philanthropic initiatives and provides strategic assistance to those in need.
About the Role:
This position offers a unique chance to contribute to innovative, industry‑relevant research while working closely with a commercial partner in a highly dynamic sector. It is ideal for a graduate with strong competencies in lean management, value stream mapping, data integration, and operational analytics. Experience in research related to process review, value chain optimisation, or industry‑based operational excellence is highly desirable. Candidates with knowledge of data‑driven supply chains, automation technologies, and the use of PowerBI or SQL will be particularly encouraged.
As part of the KTP, you will benefit from the combined expertise and resources of both ARU and Wealmoor. You will work at the interface of industry and academia, gaining hands‑on experience in analytics, continuous improvement, and commercial translation. The role requires strong analytical thinking, excellent communication skills, and the confidence to engage a wide range of stakeholders. Responsibilities will include designing and delivering lean-based improvement activities, presenting findings to diverse audiences, and developing internal capability to ensure long‑term adoption of best practices. Although employed by ARU, you will be based at Wealmoor’s Greenford site in Middlesex.
Requirements:
Applicants must hold an MSc (ideally a PhD) in operations management, supply chain management, industrial engineering, or a related discipline. Essential experience includes research in operational excellence, process review, and value chain optimisation; familiarity with data‑driven operations; knowledge of automation technologies; PowerBI or SQL capability; and proven project‑management skills. Strong organisational skills, leadership potential, and the ability to build trust and credibility across the business are also required.
Candidate Benefits:
The successful candidate will develop specialist skills through exposure to a highly commercial food‑sector environment, access to leading academics, opportunities for further qualifications, and a dedicated £5,000 training budget. You will lead the project, manage your workload, shape the project plan, and work closely with senior stakeholders, clients, and both academic and business supervisors.
About ARU and KTP:
ARU is a global, inclusive, and entrepreneurial university with award‑winning excellence in teaching and research. KTPs provide powerful three‑way collaborations that bring together businesses, graduates, and academic experts to deliver innovation with real‑world impact.
