Are you an experienced finance administrator who is detail-oriented and looking to take the next step in their career? We're looking for a detail-focused and proactive Finance Assistant to join our small Central Support team at Lifeworks Charity. You will support with all things finance-related, making sure our accounts stay accurate and our financial reporting is clear and compliant, allowing our services to focus on the people that we support.

Who we are:

Since 1996, we've been empowering people with learning disabilities in Devon to achieve their dreams and build fulfilling lives. Our core values of kindness, respect, and positivity guide everything we do.

We currently have 3 thriving services at Lifeworks:

- College: providing education and life skills to 16–24-year-olds in a safe and encouraging environment to support them to achieve positive outcomes.
- Sesame House: 24/7 care for 4 adults with learning disabilities, enabling them to live their best lives.
- Day Services: Consistent care and support throughout the year, school holidays and weekends, with a focus on engaging activities chosen by the participants.

What you'll do:

- Process invoices with high accuracy using Xero, ApprovalMax and Apron, ensuring our suppliers are paid in a timely manner.
- Support with the maintenance of clear financial records through reconciliations, ensuring we are always audit-ready.
- Assist with preparing and presenting financial documentation and reports, such as statements, balance sheets and trackers.
- Support with expense monitoring, ensuring that all claims are in accordance with internal procedures.
- Act as a point of contact for staff, managers, and suppliers, working professionally and proactively to resolve any financial queries.

This is a permanent, full-time role (37.5 hours per week, for 52 weeks per year). The working pattern is Monday-Friday, 08:30-16:30, which includes a 30-minute unpaid break.

Who we're looking for:

- You will hold an AAT Level 3 qualification and have experience in a similar financial role.
- Experienced in IT, you will be able to evidence practical use of Microsoft systems (especially Microsoft Excel) as well as Xero. If you have also worked with ApprovalMax and Apron, this would be a strong advantage.
- You’ll be detail-focused and ensure accuracy across all financial data.
- You will be organised and proactive and be able to successfully navigate through deadlines and priorities.
- A strong communicator and team player, you’ll be able to support staff and external stakeholders clearly and professionally.
- Although not essential, it would be advantageous if you have experience working with grants or local authority funding.

Finally, it’s important that you share our passion for supporting people with learning disabilities to live full lives and our shared mission of equality and inclusivity.

Make a Difference and Build Your Career at Lifeworks!

We're passionate about supporting our staff just as much as we are about supporting our service users. When you join our team, you can expect:

- A Real Living Wage of at least £12.60 per hour
- 33 days of paid holiday per year
- A fully funded DBS check and update service to ensure a smooth onboarding process
- Access to valuable resources, including an employee assistance programme to support your mental and emotional health

Building a Diverse and Safe Team:

At Lifeworks, we're committed to fostering a workplace that reflects the diversity of our community. As a Disability Confident Employer, we actively encourage applications from individuals with disabilities who meet the job criteria, and we guarantee qualified candidates with disabilities an interview.

Lifeworks is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our service users. This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act, and the successful candidate will undergo Safer Recruitment checks, which include pre-employment checks, reference checks, and an enhanced DBS with barred list check. We may also conduct online searches on the successful applicant. This will be part of a safeguarding check to assess whether the candidate is suitable to work with vulnerable adults.
