About the role

We are seeking a Criminology Programme Leader, who will be responsible for delivering high‑quality teaching and academic support to learners studying criminology. The role involves helping students develop a strong understanding of criminological theories, research methods, and the criminal justice system, while supporting their academic progress and confidence.

The successful Programme Leader will create an engaging and inclusive learning environment that encourages critical thinking, discussion, and independent study.



About the person

The successful candidate should hold a degree in Criminology or a closely related subject and demonstrate strong subject knowledge across key criminological theories, research methods, and the criminal justice system. Experience teaching or tutoring criminology (or a related social science) is essential, with the ability to support learners at varying academic levels.



The role requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to explain complex concepts clearly, and a learner‑centred approach that adapts to individual needs. Strong organisational skills, reliability, and a commitment to academic standards and safeguarding are expected. A teaching or training qualification and experience with exam boards or higher education assessment criteria are desirable, along with confidence using digital learning platforms.
