Your role will involve picking her up from school during term time and either taking her back to your home, where her mum can collect her later, or accompanying her back to her family home. During this time, you’ll support her with day-to-day activities and help her feel comfortable, safe and settled.
She has a range of interests and enjoys watching videos and accessing online media, doing jigsaw puzzles, drawing, and getting creative with arts and crafts. Sharing these activities with her and encouraging her interests will be an important and enjoyable part of the role.
At times, she can feel overwhelmed or anxious, so it’s essential that you are able to recognise when this is happening and respond with patience, understanding and reassurance. Helping her with emotional regulation and providing a calm, steady presence will be key, as will creating an environment where she feels safe and supported. Her supervision and safety will always be the top priority.
If you are a kind, observant and dependable person who enjoys supporting young people and making a positive difference in their daily lives, this role could be a great fit for you.
