Summary
Purpose of the Role
To provide safe, reliable and supportive transport for clients with a disability, ensuring their comfort, dignity and wellbeing at all times.
Key Responsibilities
Collect clients with a disability from their homes and transport them safely to the centre driving a WAV or pool car
Return clients to their homes at the end of the day.
Transport clients to and from external activities, appointments and outings as required.
Support and supervise clients during journeys, ensuring their safety and comfort at all times.
Safely secure wheelchairs and mobility equipment in the wav using approved restraints.
Carry out basic vehicle safety checks (e.g. tyre pressure, oil and fluid levels) in line with Department for Transport regulations, recording that checks have been completed.
Follow all organisational driving policies, procedures and risk assessments.
Ensure vehicles are fuelled as required.
Maintain vehicles in a clean, safe and presentable condition, both inside and out.
When not driving, assist with cleaning pool vehicles, supporting group activities, or carrying out cleaning duties within the centre as required.
Maintain awareness of health and safety responsibilities at all times.
Work in accordance with all organisational policies and procedures.
Act at all times in the best interests of clients and the organisation.
Maintain strict confidentiality regarding clients, colleagues and organisational information.
