Duties and Responsibilities
Job Specific Requirements
1) To provide out of hours support for children and families. Delivering out of hours interventions in accordance with CASP, CP, CLA plans, as requested by the Social Worker.

2) To be flexible and respond to changing demands of Children’s Services

3) To be engage positively with Children, young people and families using strength based and trauma informed models and approaches and keep accurate records

4) To contribute to child plans and assessments as required and contribute to statutory meetings as required and to work inclusively with the statutory teams to meet the changing demands of Childrens Services.

5) Where necessary to provide transport and escort children, young people, and families

6) To staff emergency bespoke placement for children and young people and be able to provide Safe Care. To work in accordance with policy, all relevant legislation and to comply with the code of conduct for Social Care Workers Wales.

7) To deliver a range of flexible and appropriate support services that enable parents to build on their capacity to enhance their child’s health and development including direct work, group work, and family work. This may include same day interventions. This will be completed within the Framework for the Assessment of Children in Need and their families.
8) To deliver services to children (aged 0-18 years) and their families that have been identified to be in need in accordance with Children’s Services policy for Family Support Services, the Service Specification; all other County policies, procedures and legal requirements.
9) Be a point of contact with professionals and appropriately manage telephone, emails and other methods of communication.
10) To work inclusively with case management teams to meet the changing demands of Children’s Services in relation to the authority’s statutory duties.
11) To contribute towards core assessments, as required, in partnership with other service areas and agencies to identify children’s strengths and needs.
12) To deliver services in family homes, City of Cardiff Council buildings or other community premises to meet the needs of families in a sensitive and professional manner.
13) To develop programmes of intervention with families on specific problems or behaviours that effect change and to manage an allocated caseload of identified families with responsibility of completing work that has been commissioned by case management teams.
14) To assess children’s/parents’ needs and strengths, participate in a multi-agency approach in identifying those children in need of protection or at risk of significant harm.
15) To transport children/families in County or own vehicle.
16) Facilitating the delivery of documents to families
17) To maintain appropriate records and reports, and to make effective use of the ICT systems for recording information, in line with the relevant policies and procedures.
18) To coordinate, plan, record and review individual service plans for children in conjunction with the Team Manager, other service areas, and agencies.
19) To attend meetings and present evidence and information in a formal setting, e.g., Child in Need Reviews, Case Conferences, Court Proceedings. To be part of a duty rota.
20) To participate in supervision, training, job shadowing and workshops etc. required to fulfil the duties of the post and to enhance the performance appropriate to the needs of the service, in co-operation with the Children’s Services Principle Social Worker and Team Manager.
21) To offer support and advice to team members, students, and volunteers, in liaison with the Team Manager.
22) To assist with the facilitation of supervised contact between children and their parents
23) To participate in team meetings, supervision, Personal Performance and Development and Reviews and training that maximises development opportunities that promotes self or team development.
24) To assist the Team Manager in developing resources and facilities for families.
25) To administrate and facilitate various meetings as requested by Social Workers and Supervisor
26) To participate actively in supporting the principles and practice of equality of opportunity as laid down in the organisation's Equal Opportunities Policy.
27) To take reasonable care in respect of personal health and safety and for the health and safety of others who may be affected by the post-holder’s acts or omissions, and to comply with all health and safety legislation as appropriate.
28) As a term of your employment, you may be required to undertake such other duties and/or times of work as may reasonably be required of you, commensurate with your grade or general level of responsibility within the organisation, at your initial place of work or based at any other establishment.
