The Role
Are you a Health & Safety professional who enjoys getting out of the office and meeting new people? We are looking for a proactive Health & Safety Officer to play a vital role in our students' futures.
This isn’t your typical "desk-bound" H&S role. You will be the face of the College for local employers, ensuring that every work placement we offer is safe, compliant, and high-quality. You’ll be visiting a huge variety of workplaces—from high-tech offices to industrial sites—carrying out risk assessments and building strong professional relationships.
Your Mission:
On the Road: You’ll travel across the region to conduct H&S checks, ensuring our partner employers provide a safe and welcoming environment for our students.
Building Relationships: You’ll act as a consultant for employers, providing them with essential policies on Safeguarding and Prevent while securing great placements.
Meticulous Management: Back at base (or working remotely), you’ll keep our CRM systems updated, ensuring every student's placement is backed by perfect paperwork.
Problem Solver: You’ll be the first port of call if concerns arise during a placement, working quickly to resolve issues and maintain our high standards.
Why You’ll Love This Role:
Total Variety: No two days are the same. One day you might be at a creative agency; the next, you could be at a construction firm.
Autonomy: We trust your expertise. You’ll have the freedom to manage your own diary, prioritise your visits, and work independently.
Make a Real Impact: By ensuring these placements are safe and successful, you are directly helping students gain the experience they need to launch their careers.
Benefits: Access to the Local Government Pension Scheme and a fully-funded enhanced DBS check.
What You’ll Need to Bring:
You’re the perfect fit if you are methodical, observant, and great at talking to people at all levels.
The Essentials:
Qualifications: We would love you to have an NEBOSH qualification (or equivalent) and a good standard of IT literacy. If you don’t yet hold this qualification but are willing to complete it within your first week, we’re happy to support you.
The Drive: A valid driving license and access to your own vehicle are essential, as you’ll be visiting various sites.
The Know-How: Solid knowledge of H&S law and Safeguarding, particularly concerning young people and T-Levels.
The Personality: You’re a "people person" who can remain objective and professional, even in challenging situations.
Ready to help us shape the workforce of tomorrow?
If you have an eye for detail and a passion for safety, we’d love to meet you.
