Dylan Thomas Community School is a happy and safe school where the needs of all pupils are catered for and taken into account. All staff play a key part in ensuring that this continues. The successful candidate will be offered the full support and resources of the school to develop professionally in a highly supportive environment with inspirational and supportive colleagues.
In our February 2024 Inspection, Estyn stated that “Staff at Dylan Thomas Community School offer pupils a consistently high quality of Care, Support & Guidance. The school has an inclusive family feel and there are strong relationships between pupils and staff” The successful candidate will add to this and will also benefit from a strong, supportive staff wellbeing programme.
Dylan Thomas is a rapidly growing and successful school with committed staff which has seen a dramatic increase in pupil numbers and significant investment in facilities over the last three years. The school is oversubscribed in nearly all year groups. We have high expectations of all members of our school community with an emphasis on strong relationships and inclusivity.
Governors are seeking to appoint a Teaching Assistant to support, inclusion and integration of children with additional educational needs (ALN) in a variety of provisions across the school from mainstream to Special Teaching Facilities.
Successful candidates will have a dedication to furthering pupils learning & development, together with the ability to use initiative and creativity. Supporting pupils inside as well as outside the classroom, under the direction of the ALNCo you will contribute to the overall ethos, work and aims of the school. You will play an integral part in the school life of pupils and you should have an empathy and interest in working with pupils with ALN.
The role will require the ability to relate well to young people, develop effective working relationships with pupils and parents and have excellent communication and behaviour management skills.
Dylan Thomas Community School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people and expects all staff to share this commitment.
