An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Pharmacy senior leadership team as the Deputy Group Chief Pharmacist Clinical, Digital, Workforce and Governance.

The post holder should have a confident, proactive attitude to the tasks required and the ability to forge relationships with a wide range of staff both within and beyond the Pharmacy Services unit within the Trust. Supported by Associate Chief Pharmacists for the three Trust Health Units and the lead for Medicines Optimisation, the successful post holder will build on existing areas of excellence and will provide expertise for improvement and development ensuring that the Pharmacy Department of the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust is considered one of the most highest achieving services within the NHS and a place people aspire to work in.

This post will regularly provide cover for the Group Chief Pharmacist providing leadership support to all areas of RFL Pharmacy but with particular reference to the health unit pharmacy departments. The post holder will also support the Group Chief Pharmacist in some aspect of cover in the absence of the Deputy Group Chief Pharmacist – Technical and Commercial Services.

As a registered Pharmacist you will be responsible for the clinical services undertaken by RFL pharmacy by engaging with key stakeholders, both within trust but also externally with colleagues in the ICS, region, regulatory bodies and beyond. You will also be responsible for the development of strategic plans for the Pharmacy clinical services, workforce requirements, medicines governance and regulatory compliance covering the next 3-5 years and the co-ordination of the wider business planning for the pharmacy health unit operations ensuring alignment to the overall strategy for pharmacy service and the Trust, where appropriate, while maintaining viability.

The post holder:

Should have qualification relevant to pharmacy practice or a portfolio that demonstrates the acquisition and use of higher levels of specialist knowledge as well as have a management qualification e.g. MBA or equivalent and be GPhC registered. Have significant post qualification experience in hospital pharmacy. Have significant demonstrable experience in leading and working effectively in a multi-professional team environment. Have extensive experience with regulatory standards required for pharmacy activities including GPhC registration, Home Office, CQC, MHRA and Regional QA.
