The NHS has experienced significant growth in research activity and awareness in recent years.
An opportunity is now available within the Research and Innovation Clinical Delivery Team at Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust for a motivated and diligent individual to join us as a Band 4 Senior Research Assistant.
In this role, you will contribute to a range of research studies and support clinical teams in providing patients with access to research opportunities. You will help deliver the research pathway for patients participating in innovative studies and clinical trials.
Key responsibilities include screening potential participants, completing protocol‑specific procedures, monitoring patients undergoing research interventions, and collecting and recording accurate data in line with study protocols and Good Clinical Practice guidelines.
The role requires strong clinical and communication skills, as you will work across multiple departments within the Trust.
Previous research experience is desirable but not essential; full training and development will be provided.
The post holder willsupport the delivery and administration of research activity at GWHFT under the direction and supervision of a senior member of the Research and Innovation Team.
Contribute to the conduct of research related activities and the delivery of delegated tasks to ensure the requirements of the research protocol and the needs of research participants are met in accordance with Good Clinical Practice guidelines, relevant regulations, standard operating procedures and Trust Policies.
Support clinical teams in screening to identify potential participants in accordance with protocol mandated eligibility criteria.
Employ strategies to ensure that research opportunities are accessible to all, ensuring diversity and inclusivity in the research population.
Autonomously deliver activities required from a caseload of portfolio studies, following direction of a senior team member and in accordance with competence, confidence, and needs of the protocol.
For delegated caseload of studies, provide potential participants with the relevant approved research information to facilitate the receipt of written informed consent and ensure ongoing consent throughout the research journey, respecting and reporting any withdrawal of that consent.

Support in the appropriate patient care of participants in accordance with tasks assigned on the delegation of duties log for specific research protocols.
Independently organise and manage own time, according to delegated workload of complex and varied activities, and adjust prioritises where required, to achieve patients, team and own goals and to assist in meeting research performance targets.
