Summary


An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Exercise Practitioner to join our adult Cystic Fibrosis (CF) multi-disciplinary team (MDT) at Frimley Park Hospital. We welcome applicants from a range of exercise backgrounds, and no previous healthcare experience is required as full training will be provided.

We are looking for someone with excellent communication skills who is confident delivering exercise in a variety of settings. An interest in exercise physiology, Cystic Fibrosis, and the psychology of exercise is desirable, but a willingness to learn is just as important.

You will receive regular supervision, ongoing training and strong support from our specialist CF physiotherapists. We also encourage continued professional development through patient-facing experience, online learning, webinars and close MDT working.

We are open to considering candidates seeking part time hours of 20 - 25 hours per week worked between Monday to Friday. To be discussed at interview.

To work as an integral and active part of the adult CF multi-disciplinary team. They will be responsible for the exercise provision to all CF patient who attend the Adult CF unit, working in an effective, efficient and cost-effective way.

Post holder will:
• Be responsible for the provision of exercise to patients, supported by a CF specialist physiotherapist.
• Carry out clinical tasks, such as instruction/supervision and prescription of daily individual exercise programmes, requiring a wide range of technical ability, as well as an excellent level of interpersonal skills.
• Carry out clinical assessments independently such as oxygen saturation, heart rate and blood glucose with interpretation of these for safely exercising patients.
• Carry out assessments for patients following hospital discharge and feedback these assessments at multi-disciplinary meetings. This will include close liaison with the multi-disciplinary team about the patient status.
• To carry out one-to-one exercise sessions with both inpatients and outpatients
• Assess patients at clinics and annual reviews, encouraging activity and exercise within patients’ daily lives and complete core clinical assessments such as exercise testing.
• Monitor stock of disposable physiotherapy and nebuliser equipment, liaising with the specialist nurse re: ordering items as required.
• To contribute to the induction of new physiotherapists and physiotherapy students
• Participate in continued personal education
