Working Pattern: 4-day week (Mon–Fri), 1:6 weekends, no on-call

About the Practice

A thriving, independent veterinary practice in Leicester, Leicestershire is seeking a Lead Veterinary Surgeon to join their team. The recently refurbished, modern clinic features:

• Digital and dental X-ray, ultrasound, endoscopy, tonometer, and orthopaedic equipment
• Three consult rooms and fully equipped surgical theatres
• A high surgical and soft tissue caseload
• Plans for future expansion, including a new 24-hour service


The practice is supported by a dedicated team, including a Head Veterinary Nurse, five Registered Veterinary Nurses, three Client Care Assistants, and a Practice Manager.

The Role – Lead Veterinary Surgeon

The Lead Veterinary Surgeon will take a pivotal role in delivering clinical excellence and driving the development of the veterinary team. Responsibilities include:

• Leading consultations and surgical procedures to the highest medical and surgical standards
• Mentoring and supporting the clinical team
• Promoting best practices across the clinic
• Contributing to the growth and development of a new 24-hour service


The ideal candidate will be an RCVS-registered Veterinary Surgeon confident working sole charge, with excellent communication skills, strong leadership abilities, and a passion for exceptional patient care.
