Summary
Core Responsibilities: Patient Interaction: Greet patients, verify their identity, explain the blood draw procedure, and offer reassurance to calm anxiety. Blood Collection: Perform venipuncture (drawing blood from veins) or finger sticks using sterile equipment and aseptic techniques. Specimen Handling: Label tubes accurately with patient info, prepare samples for testing (e.g., in appropriate tubes), and ensure timely delivery to the lab. Record Keeping: Update patient records and log sample information into databases. Safety & Hygiene: Maintain a clean, sanitary workspace, follow strict infection control policies, and properly dispose of medical instruments.
