Summary
This post has been developed to support the teaching of undergraduate medical students within Berkshire Healthcare Foundation Trust (BHFT). It is designed to support doctors who wish to make a commitment to education as part of their career.
The post is offered as a fixed term position, 12 months to enthusiastic educators with experience in Psychiatry. There is no requirement to have completed MRCPsych exams though this is advantageous. There will be an expectation that you will have undertaken at least 3 years in suitable training posts working in Psychiatry.

The post-holder will be expected to have a key role in the delivery of undergraduate medical education in the trust, working closely with undergraduate tutors for Southampton and the director undergraduate of education for Brunel.
This will include offering regular practical teaching opportunities to the students, in small groups, including direct observation of their interactions with patients, and completion of any required assessments.
The post-holder will focus on quality improvement activity during periods when some or all medical students are not in placement with BHFT. They will also be supported to make links with the Medical Schools to participate in any available medical education projects or research which may be available to become involved with.
The medical education team will support the post-holder to learn about the delivery of medical education, which will including shadowing and attendance at various meetings in the trust or with the deanery.
The post-holder will be involved with formal medical student assessments.
They may be involved with quality improvement in both undergraduate and postgraduate education.

Registered Medical Practitioner with General Medical Council.
A minimum of 3 years’ experience in psychiatry at CT level (or equivalent period of part time experience).
Experience of providing teaching
Able to demonstrate good understanding of the fundamentals of psychiatric assessment, phenomenology, and evidence-based treatments.
