Summary


Join the North London NHS Foundation Trust as a Band 4 Assistant Psychologist supporting High Intensity Users through the new Islington Crisis Plus service. We have two vacancies and are looking for people who are interested in working in a newly formed small team who use a systemically- focused approach.



This role spans inpatient and community settings, focusing on co-creating multi-agency crisis plans and delivering psychologically informed, time-limited interventions. for service users who present with a range of diagnoses, challenging behaviours and acute crises. Supervised by a Clinical Psychologist, you’ll assess service users’ histories and crisis patterns to develop Anticipatory Management Plans that guide recovery and improve crisis response across agencies. This information will be used to develop guidance for service users, their carers, mental health and external agencies on how best future crises can be more effectively managed and to support the service user’s recovery. You will work independently and collaboratively, attending MDTs and ward rounds, contributing to clinical discussions, and refining care plans. The role also involves helping shape Crisis Plus by developing proactive interventions.



Strong data skills are essential, including experience in service evaluation, audit, and research. You’ll manage large datasets and analyse outcomes using Excel and/or SPSS.

Job Summary

We are looking for someone who has skills in working with people experiencing a high level of distress and has a good understanding of risk management and safeguarding processes.



The role includes:



To provide psychological assessments for clients in the various services in the borough who present in crisis, including assessment of risk



To co-create crisis-focused management plans with service users and their personal and professional network



To provide culturally appropriate psychological interventions with carers or families of referred clients when required



Liaise with professionals and individuals across a service user’s network



To assist in the development of individual and network-wide clinical materials or training materials, and in addition to develop such materials independently as falls within own degree of competence.



To contribute to service development through undertaking and participating in appropriate projects.



To arrange, schedule and provide training to employees of the Trust or employees of partner agencies in order to support service improvement.



To conduct surveys with service users and carers to gather views on service provision



The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to and provide admin support as required to support the successful running of the Crisis Plus team.
