Position Summary
The System Engineer / Technical Manager (PEM) supports the design, integration, and optimisation of Baggage Handling or Packets and Parcels Handling Systems. The role is responsible for coordinating cross-functional teams, managing technical resources, and mitigating risks to ensure project objectives are achieved.
The PEM leads task allocation and supervises project staff, while continuously monitoring project progress, quality, and performance. Strong stakeholder engagement and effective communication are essential to ensure successful project delivery from design through commissioning and close-out.
Essential Functions
Reporting to the Head of Engineering, the System Engineer / Technical Manager (PEM) will:
Define and formalise user requirements as the basis for system design
Engage with clients to understand, interpret, and validate technical needs and requirements
Plan, schedule, coordinate, and monitor project activities, setting clear milestones and deadlines
Actively contribute to electrical and control system design activities
Develop Technical Purchase Specifications for sub-suppliers, with support from Technical Leaders
Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, customer requirements, and performance specifications
Review and verify project deliverables, initiating corrective actions where necessary
Perform overall quality control across budget, schedule, planning, and team performance
Provide regular project status updates to the Project Manager
Coordinate on-site commissioning activities to ensure full compliance with project requirements
Coordinate and support on-site testing activities, both internally and with the customer
Oversee project close-out activities, ensuring all open points are addressed and completed
General Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automation & Control Engineering, or a related discipline (preferred)
Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
Strong analytical skills with the ability to synthesise complex information
High sense of responsibility and ownership
Strong commitment to quality and project outcomes
Adaptability to evolving technologies and industry standards
