Finance – Shaping Wiltshire’s Future

We are looking for an experienced and forward‑thinking Head of Finance to lead our Adults Finance service. This is a key leadership role, providing strong direction, clear vision and a commitment to continual improvement across the finance team. You will;

Help ensure our services offer value for money and follow robust financial controls and standards, working closely with senior leaders, lead members and partners to manage risk, protect the council’s reputation and support effective decision‑making.

Build positive working relationships, handle complex challenges and provide high‑quality strategic financial advice that shapes both short‑term actions and long‑term planning.

Ensure the finance team works in genuine partnership with service managers, helping them understand their budgets, use resources effectively and make decisions based on clear and reliable financial information. You will act as the lead strategic finance partner for Adults services, while also maintaining a broad understanding of the wider organisation and commissioned services.

You will also support the delivery of cultural and strategic change, guide the production of the annual accounts and ensure all statutory deadlines are met. You will also respond promptly to audit recommendations and provide expert interpretation of complex financial information to help senior leaders plan, redesign services and identify savings.

This is a fantastic opportunity to be the council’s lead financial professional for Adults services, influencing partners and shaping high‑quality financial stewardship across the organisation.
