Summary
Specialised Support Worker – Somebody Special Wanted
We’re looking for somebody truly special to join our small, dedicated team, someone who is calm, kind, and confident being there for an individual who experiences periods of emotional overwhelm and behavioural escalation.
This role isn’t about rushing or fixing. It’s about presence, patience, and understanding. About being the steady, reassuring person someone can rely on during their day.
About the Role
You’ll be supporting 2:1 an individual with Autism and complex needs in a nurturing, low-arousal day service setting. This is a hands-on, meaningful role where relationship-building, emotional safety, and consistency matter more than ticking boxes.
• 6-hour days Monday to Friday
• £14 per hour
• 30-hour contract (negotiable)
• Temporary to Permanent (depending on successful transition period)
We’re seeking someone who:
• Has experience supporting individuals with Autism and complex needs
• A strong understanding of non-verbal communication, and positive behaviour support
• Remains calm under pressure, physically capable, and experienced in supporting behaviour that can be challenging.
• Is confident and compassionate
• Understands emotional regulation, sensory needs, and trauma-informed care
• Can remain compassionate and grounded during challenging moments
• Values dignity, empathy, and person-centred support above all else
• Holds a full UK Driving License
Why Meadowbank?
We are a small, supportive day service where staff are valued and individuals are truly known. Many people choose Meadowbank as their sanctuary, a place where they can feel safe, understood, and accepted exactly as they are.
Our team is skilled, experienced, and deeply committed to doing things the right way, not the easy way. This role is both rewarding and demanding, and would suit someone resilient, patient, and committed to providing consistent, person-centred care.
If you believe you can be a calm, steady presence and make a real difference in someone’s life, we’d love to hear from you.
