The Team
The Accommodation Team manages the accommodation portfolio of circa 2000 beds which includes University owned sites, commuting rooms and partnerships with private providers across the city. This involves working with prospective students from the point of application, as well as supporting all those living in university accommodation with any housing related issues that arise.
The team works closely with other services such as the Wellbeing team and the Disability and Inclusion team to ensure all students are supported during their time at YSJ.
The role
The University is looking for someone to join our busy Student Accommodation Team supporting both prospective and current students with all aspects of housing. This can range from providing advice at one of our Open Days on types of accommodation available, to resolving issues within flats for current students. The team consists of 5 members of staff and a team of Residential Support Assistants (current students living in University Accommodation)
The role is full time (37 hours per week) with some weekend work required to support Open Days, Visit Days and Student Arrival Weekend. A flexi time scheme is available.
Work will entail a variety of administrative tasks including responding to emails and phone calls, use of the accommodation management system, and use of social media to promote information to students.

Knowledge and understanding of the experience of students in higher education
Effective oral and written communication skills
