The Opportunity:
Long Term Futures are seeking a compassionate and proactive Pastoral Support Assistant to join a well-regarded primary or secondary school in the Westminster area.
You will play a key role in supporting pupils' emotional wellbeing, behaviour, attendance, and overall personal development, working closely with pastoral leads, safeguarding teams, and teaching staff.
This is a rewarding opportunity for someone passionate about helping young people overcome challenges and thrive in a supportive school environment.
Your Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 and small-group pastoral support for pupils
- Support pupils with emotional regulation, behaviour, and social development
- Assist with attendance monitoring and engagement strategies
- Work collaboratively with safeguarding leads, SENCOs, and external agencies
- Maintain accurate pastoral records and contribute to support plans
- Help create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing school environment
- Build trusted, positive relationships with pupils and families
Requirements:
- Experience working with children or young people in a pastoral, youth, or education setting
- Strong communication, listening, and de-escalation skills
- Empathetic, resilient, and professional approach
- Understanding of safeguarding, child protection, and pupil wellbeing
- Ability to remain calm and solution-focused in challenging situations
