Summary
PRIMARY TEACHER (SEMH / ALTERNATIVE PROVISION)
We are recruiting for a qualified Primary Teacher to work within an Independent Alternative Provision based in Southampton, supporting secondary-aged pupils with SEMH and additional learning difficulties. This is a full-time position with an immediate start.
The provision forms part of a wider education and supported accommodation organisation, established in 2022, with a strong focus on preparing young people for adulthood through bespoke education and holistic support.
The setting supports students across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, as well as post-16 learners, offering highly personalised education programmes for pupils who are working at a lower academic level. The environment is nurturing, structured, and relationship-focused, designed to re-engage learners who may have struggled in mainstream education.
Pupils are taught in small groups or on a 1:1 basis, with strong support from experienced support staff. The curriculum is adapted to meet each learners social, emotional, and academic needs, with an emphasis on consistency, emotional regulation, and life skills alongside core subjects.
The successful teacher will be responsible for delivering a primary-style curriculum to secondary-aged pupils, particularly across English, Maths, and topic-based learning. A calm, flexible, and trauma-aware approach is essential, alongside a genuine passion for supporting young people with complex needs.
