Summary
Asset Engineer (Earthworks)
MSSI are currently recruiting for an experienced Asset Engineer (Earthworks) to support a major rail infrastructure programme in the North West. This is a contract role offering a strong day rate, hybrid working, and the opportunity to extend beyond the initial term.
Role Overview
You will be responsible for planning, managing, and undertaking Earthwork Examinations in accordance with NR-L3-CIV-065 - Examination of Earthworks Manual. This role involves both desk-based planning and on-site examination work across the rail network.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Geotechnical Examination Team with planning and delivery of Earthwork Examinations
- Undertake desk-based site reconnaissance to determine suitable access strategies
- Liaise with Access Planning teams to agree logistics, possessions, and Safe Work Packs
- Carry out Earthwork Examinations safely and efficiently in line with standards and safe systems of work
- Complete examinations in accordance with NR-L3-CIV-065
- Close out rejected examinations and respond to feedback
- Accurately record and report completed and non-completed work
- Maintain all required records and documentation
- Adhere to all MSSI policies and procedures
Essential Requirements
- COSS / IWA competency to work on the operational railway
- Previously assessed at Level 3 competency in:
- Soil Slope Examinations (GEO-I-S)
- Rock Slope Examinations (GEO-I-R)
Desirable
- Knowledge of relevant planning systems
- Experience acting as a Responsible Manager
- Experience endorsing Safe Work Packs
