Summary

Key Job Activities: of Role Assurance & Audit Work as part of the CIPC team to ensure that commissioners and providers of health and social care in Leicester City have the appropriate infection, prevention and control systems and processes in place which meet required national standards and enable them to provide good quality, clean, safe care. Implement a system of IPC quality assurance in conjunction with social care quality assurance team. Audit the effectiveness of implementation of policies, guidelines, and quality assurance frameworks in care settings. Contribute to audits of care service provider performance against local and national benchmarks. Provide reports as required to the local Health Protection and Health & Wellbeing Boards on issues relating to Infection Prevention Control (IPC) procedures. Identify areas of concern and non-adherence for follow up action and support. Maintain an evidence base for CIPC interventions and disseminate information to the Divisions of Public Health and Social Care and other relevant stakeholders. Support Root Cause Analysis and Post Infection Reviews following single high-risk incidences and serious outbreak situations. 40% Care Setting Leadership, Surveillance, Advice & Outbreak Management Build strong relationships with managers in care settings. Build internal CIPC capacity within care providers. Work collaboratively with Public Health and Social Care colleagues to support care providers in developing and sustaining IPC processes. 35% Job Title: Community Infection Prevention & Control Specialist Job No: A0878B Division: Public Health Service: Public Health Team/Section: Health Protection Responsible to: Senior CIPC Specialist Overall Purpose of Role: To: Work with the Senior CIPC Specialist to provide a Community Infection Prevention and Control (CIPC) Programme for local authority commissioned health and social care services in Leicester City, ensuring that recipients, carers and members of the public are protected from infection according to the latest policy and guidance. Reduce the incidence and prevalence of infection in community settings, specifically in local authority funded care settings by providing assurance, audit, surveillance, expert advice, outbreak management, strategy and policy development, and education and training. + in the context of supervising the work of temporary staff and providing leadership to care setting mangers: Provide decisive and effective leadership to team(s) in line with the councils Vision & Values and Leadership Qualities that enables them to do their best work resulting in high levels of people and organisational performance. Page 2 of 9 Carry out visits, inspections, interviews and investigations, and direct required interventions. Provide expert IPC advice in the management of outbreaks. + in the context of this leadership: Involve team/s in creating a shared purpose to help them develop and achieve results. Strategy & Policy Development Support the development and implementation of the authoritys CIPC strategy. Contribute to the work of the local IPC Strategy Group. Interpret legislation and national or local policy initiatives to ensure internal policy and procedures comply. Support the timely review of local CIPC policy and guidance relevant to the core work of the team. Formally negotiate with colleagues in care settings to develop improved IPC procedures and processes. 10% Education, Training & Supervision Provide local education and training for care setting staff and professional colleagues in response to identified need. Develop and deliver appropriate CIPC training to social care staff, professional colleagues, and stakeholders. Provide presentations to care setting staff, professional networks, strategic bodies, and key stakeholders. Answer enquiries from care setting staff, social care colleagues or members of the public on IPC issues. Facilitate care setting IPC support networks as a peer learning/education resource. Provide mentoring and supervision to allocated temporary staff within the department such as Registrars. the leadership requirements detailed previously are relevant here also 10% Undertake other miscellaneous activities associated with the role. 5%
