The role

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and skilled teacher to join our wonderful team as Second in Science at Bohunt Farnborough. The successful candidate should be able to teach across the range of sciences at KS3 and KS4, as well as having a specialism in one area of science. We have a good proportion of GCSE students who excel in science and are high performing students.

At our school, we understand the importance of science for our students, fostering natural curiosity and a sense of "awe and wonder". Science lessons equip learners with the essential lifelong skills and knowledge they need to succeed in school and beyond, acting as a gateway to careers in medicine, engineering, and innovation and empowering students to tackle future global challenges.

We are keen to appoint the very best teacher for our students, and therefore you will need to demonstrate a passion for science and a commitment to ensuring that every child can access and enjoy the power of science. The Head of Department is passionate about their subject and is looking for someone who can deliver engaging, enjoyable, and challenging lessons that inspire rapid progress. Teachers who are passionate about their subject motivate students - so you will need to show genuine enthusiasm, and a determination to engage all learners. This is a key role in the school and will build on the excellent progress the science department has made over recent years. This is an opportunity to help the Head of Science to lead and support the department in delivering engaging and inspiring lessons to students of all abilities, shaping the direction of science in the school.

In addition, this role offers excellent opportunities for professional growth. We actively encourage colleagues to take on extra responsibilities, contribute to whole-school initiatives, and step into middle leadership positions as part of their career development. You will be joining a school where ambition is matched by support, and where your impact can extend well beyond the classroom.

The Candidate

You will:

• have a passion for Science which is evident in your teaching
• demonstrate the ability to consistently deliver inspirational learning experiences for students
• be ambitious for our students and keen to take the next step on the career ladder
• Have a passion for influencing curriculum design and innovative practice
• have an understanding of how to promote effective and inclusive teaching and learning
• be able to evidence success in raising student achievement across a broad range of abilities through successful assessment, monitoring and evaluation of student progress, and the range of strategies that could be used to address underachievement
• possess good communication skills with students, colleagues and parents
• demonstrate a strong desire to undertake Continuing Professional Development to inform teaching
