We are seeking a Planning Support Officer to provide administrative and technical support within the Development Management & Enforcement service.
The post holder will assist in the processing of planning and enforcement applications in accordance with relevant legislation and procedures, including validation, registration, record keeping and fee collection. The role also involves producing correspondence and reports, supporting committee processes, maintaining accurate data and systems, and responding to customer enquiries.
The role requires effective use of ICT systems, attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a busy public service environment. The post holder will contribute to service performance, continuous improvement and effective working relationships with colleagues, elected members, customers and external stakeholders.
If you would like an informal chat about this role please contact: Zoe Magari, Administration Team Leader on 07976 237378 / zoe.magari@bolton.gov.uk or alternatively Alex Allen, Planning Development Manager on: 07385 361838 / alex.allen@bolton.gov.uk
About You:
Our ideal candidate is organised, dependable and thrives in a busy environment where accuracy and good judgement matter. You’ll stay calm under pressure, take pride in getting the details right, and enjoy seeing work through from start to finish.
You should be comfortable juggling multiple tasks, working with digital systems and data, and dealing confidently with the public and colleagues. You don’t need to be a planning specialist, but you must be curious, quick to learn, and happy getting to grips with new systems and processes.
You’ll be able to communicate clearly and professionally, handle fees and financial records with confidence, and work well as part of a supportive team. Above all, you’ll be flexible, proactive and motivated by delivering a reliable, high-quality service in a changing and fast-paced environment, that makes a real difference to customers and communities.
