SALARY: £25,583 - £25,989 FTE (Actual Salary for Term Time Hours £ £18,412 per annum) + Benefits

WORKING HOURS: 31.7 Hours per Week, Term Time Only


JOB OVERVIEW

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Teaching Assistant / HLTA to join a supportive and collaborative primary school team. This role plays a vital part in helping pupils access the curriculum, develop confidence and achieve their potential.

As a Teaching Assistant / HLTA, you will work closely with teachers and colleagues to deliver engaging learning support, promote inclusion and encourage positive behaviour. You will support children individually, in groups and occasionally whole-class settings.

The Teaching Assistant / HLTA role is ideal for someone who is caring, proactive and committed to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing, with a genuine passion for education and child development.


DUTIES

Your duties as the Teaching Assistant / HLTA include:

• Supporting Teaching and Learning: Assisting pupils to access the curriculum individually, in groups or as a class

• Promoting Inclusion: Encouraging participation and supporting pupils with additional needs and disabilities

• Behaviour Management: Applying consistent behaviour support strategies in line with school policies

• Classroom Preparation: Organising learning spaces and resources to maintain a safe and stimulating environment

• Pupil Observation: Monitoring progress and feeding back to teaching staff

• Personal Care Support: Assisting pupils with toileting, feeding, mobility and personal care where required

• Health and Safety: Supporting safeguarding procedures and pupil wellbeing at all times

• Supervision Duties: Supporting pupils during lunchtimes, trips and extracurricular activities


CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

ESSENTIAL

• Previous experience supporting children in an education or learning environment

• Ability to provide personal care with dignity, sensitivity and respect

• Strong communication skills with children, staff and parents

• Understanding of safeguarding, inclusion and child wellbeing

• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team

• Good IT skills to support learning activities

DESIRABLE

• Experience supporting pupils with SEND

• Knowledge of behaviour management strategies

• First Aid qualification

• Understanding of the primary curriculum
