We currently have an exciting opportunity for a passionate, dedicated and skilled Professional Trainer in Painting & Decorating to work 15 hours per week until the end of July 2026. The information below provides more detail about the role.

Duties:

  • Be responsible for managing the overall delivery of the apprenticeship, to include, on site assessments, training and reviews.
  • Be responsible for managing overall delivery of part time learners.
  • Be responsible for the overall delivery of planning a master classes and online session.
  • Provide training and or/assessment in appropriate disciplines to a range of learners on their selected programme.
  • Be responsible for a caseload of candidates ensuring timely completion within agreed timescales appropriate for level and individual needs.
  • To develop materials to enable you to provide appropriate and relevant guidance and training to learners enabling them to develop knowledge, understanding and skills and competence in the safe use of materials and equipment.
  • Support the tracking and recording of the vocational progress of learners on a regular basis/as required using relevant systems to report and act in respect of any concerns (including the 20% off the job training).
  • Over the duration of the programme ensure formal reviews between the learner and employer take place in line with the individual learning plan, and that they are undertaken as a minimum every 12 weeks at 2 hours each, (3 completed remotely and 1 attached to one on site review).
  • To develop and implement timely, safe, consistent, and relevant assessments, assessment plans and resources that are linked to initial and current assessments. Whilst providing constructive feedback and progress on how learners might improve.
  • Support the learner recruitment team with interviews and participate in College open events and apprentice recruitment events.
  • Contribute to and participate in the quality assurance procedures for all programmes/ training provision, including Internal Verification to the prescribed standards. Contribute to the review and evaluation process to ensure year on year improvements.
  • Provide feedback on learners' work and assignments, including marking assignments where relevant, liaising with venues, employers or placement supervisors, and providing guidance and support to learners.
  • Assess and monitor portfolio of learner work and ensure completion within agreed deadlines and target date (including electronic or paper-based portfolios).
  • Complete assessment paperwork to the required audit standards.
  • Compile the required programme documentation for learners.
  • Comply with internal and awarding and funding organisations quality assurance procedures and standards.
  • To agree and meet performance targets relating to business development and learner retention and achievement.
  • Prepare learners for the End Point Assessment Process
  • Participate in the College's Appraisal Scheme.
  • Develop and maintain professional standards and expertise by undertaking relevant professional development.
  • Actively promote the College's values for all staff and learners at all times.
  • Ensure compliance with GDPR.
  • Comply with all of the College's published policies and procedure.
  • To undertake any other such duties and responsibilities which may fall within the purview of such a post and grade.

Skills/Experience:

  • Good working knowledge of IT tools (ECDL or equivalent level)
  • Highly motivated professional with a range of industry experience and knowledge
  • Excellent knowledge of recent initiatives in curriculum development & design is desirable

Qualifications:

  • Minimum GCSE grade 4 / C in English & Maths or equivalent.
  • Level 3 NVQ or City & Guilds craft/advanced craft in relevant subject.
