Job Introduction:
Sodexo’s Government & Energy segment operates at the heart of the UK’s most critical infrastructure, delivering essential services at scale, with safety, compliance and operational excellence at the core of everything we do.
We are now seeking an experienced Services Director to join our senior leadership team. This is a highly influential role, responsible for shaping and deploying segment strategy, leading a large, specialist services function and acting as a key governance, risk and performance leader across a complex, regulated portfolio.
Reporting directly to the CEO, Government & Energy, you will operate as a strategic partner to operations, business support functions and regional leadership, ensuring the successful delivery of initiatives that drive growth, resilience, safety and long-term value.
This role offers a rare opportunity to operate at scale, influence at board level and lead change across a £500m+ revenue segment employing circa 9,000 colleagues.
What You’ll Do:
As Services Director, you will provide strategic leadership across the Government & Energy segment, ensuring alignment between operational delivery, business support initiatives and regional and global strategy.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading, motivating and developing the Services Team to deliver operational excellence, successful mobilisations and sustainable growth
- Acting as the Control Tower for the segment, ensuring strategic priorities are captured, governed and delivered through regional business plans
- Building strong, trusted relationships with operational leadership teams to drive continuous improvement, retention and service expansion
- Representing the segment at senior governance forums, including Portfolio Board, QHSE Board, Regional Risk Committee and Business Continuity structures
- Owning the segment risk framework, including risk registers, legal compliance (EHS and Environmental) and mitigation cadence
- Leading the segment’s approach to business continuity planning, testing and crisis readiness
- Selecting, prioritising and governing global and regional initiatives to ensure they deliver against segment strategic objectives
- Ensuring all activity is delivered in line with Sodexo policies, ethical standards and values, positioning Sodexo as a market leader in safety, compliance and quality
You will also play a critical role in shaping the future capability of the segment by developing talent pipelines, succession planning and leadership capability across the Services function.
What You’ll Bring:
This is a senior leadership role requiring credibility, gravitas and experience operating in complex, highly regulated environments.
You will bring:
- Proven experience in a senior leadership role within large, multi-site, complex service operations
- A strong track record of delivering strategy through influence, governance and cross-functional leadership
- Experience operating at executive and board level, with the confidence to represent a business segment in high-level forums
- Deep understanding of operational risk, QHSE, compliance and business continuity within regulated sectors
- Demonstrable success in leading and developing high-performing leadership teams at scale
- Strong commercial and financial acumen, with experience supporting growth, mobilisation and performance delivery
- Exceptional stakeholder management skills, with the ability to align diverse teams behind a shared strategic agenda
Experience within Government, Energy, Defence, infrastructure or similarly regulated environments would be highly advantageous.
Why Join Sodexo:
At Sodexo, we believe in improving quality of life for everyone we serve – clients, customers and colleagues alike. In return for your expertise and leadership, we offer:
- The opportunity to influence and shape strategy within one of Sodexo’s most critical UK segments
- A senior leadership role with real scale, impact and visibility
- A values-led organisation committed to safety, integrity, inclusion and sustainability
- A collaborative, high-calibre leadership environment where your voice matters
