This is a genuine opportunity to be part of a happy, rapidly improving school where your work really matters—and where diversity, identity, equality, and community aren’t just talked about, but truly lived every single day.
Kitchener is a large, vibrant inner-city school in the heart of Cardiff, serving the communities of Riverside, Canton and Leckwith. We have over 460 pupils from more than 40 ethnic groups, with over 90% of our children using English as an additional language. Most of our pupils are of Bangladeshi heritage, and many start school with little or no English.
Our school is alive with culture, language, and joy. We see our diversity as our strength, and we’re proud of the inclusive, outward-looking environment we’ve created. We don’t follow a one-size-fits-all model here. Traditional approaches often do not meet the needs of our learners—and we’re looking for a teacher who understands that, embraces it, and is ready to adapt, innovate, and grow with us.
This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service Check.
Application forms should be completed online and should be emailed to the school’s Deputy Head Teacher by 12 noon on 2nd March 2026. Shortlisting will take place on the Monday and Interviews will be on Friday 6th March 2026.
Further information about the post can be obtained by contacting the Deputy Headteacher, Mr Hall.Safeguarding and Child Protection are key priorities for the Council. We aim to support children and vulnerable adults to ensure they are as safe as they can possibly be. Our services and schools are committed to ensuring the safety and protection of all children and vulnerable adults, and will take action to safeguard their well-being, and acknowledge that children and vulnerable adults have a right to protection. This is supported in the general ethos of the Council and all schools.
As an equal opportunities employer, we value diversity. Therefore, although not a requirement for application, we welcome and encourage applications from underrepresented individuals including those:
• aged under 25;
• not in employment, education or training;
• from our local communities including in particular disabled individuals, carers and those from the Cardiff BAME and LGBT+ communities;
• ability to communicate fluently in Welsh.
