Summary

Clinical and Professional Responsibilities The post holder will: Independently manage patients and provide high standard care within the speciality collaborating with the multi-disciplinary team (MDT) to deliver individualised and personalised direct patient care.Demonstrate adequate practice and specialist knowledge in the assessment, planning, and implementation of patient care. This will include history taking, physical examination, evaluate patients and relatives needs, ensure patient is adequately prepared and safe for the agreed interventional procedure. Communication and relationship building The post holder will: Be providing and receiving sensitive or contentious information, where persuasive, motivational, negotiating, training, empathic or reassurance skills are required. This may be because agreement or co-ordination is required or because there are barriers to understanding. Communicate with patients, their relatives or other accompanying visitors to enable informed decision making. Responsibilities for analysis The post holder will: Provide high standards of individualised nursing care for patients and their families by assessing, planning, and implementing and evaluating care. Recognise and report appropriately any changes in patients condition and escalate appropriately. Responsibilities for planning & organisation of activities The post holder will: Coordinate and organise own workload, in conjunction with the imaging nurse lead. Be involved with varied IR lists to ensure work is carried out following principles of urgency and priority in a rapidly changing workflow setting. Responsibility for Patient/ Client Care, Treatment and Therapy The post holder will: To demonstrate principles of patient safety by ensuring that all treatment and procedures are carried out by competent and appropriately trained staff. To be a patients advocate. Development of policies and services The post holder will: Uphold standards of safety and quality always putting the patient first and protecting them from harm Contribute to the development and implementation of Clinical Governance processes relevant to interventional radiology procedures. Financial responsibility The post holder will: Contribute to the effective use and deployment of resources and staff to achieve optimum value for money without detriment to patient care. Assist in maintaining all equipment and stock levels with due regard for economy and safety. Managing people The post holder will: Be responsible for his/her actions and patient workload and be able to work unsupervised as well as part of a multidisciplinary team. Assist in developing and maintaining a suitable and stimulating learning environment for the on-going professional development of registered staff. Responsibility for information resources The post holder will: Use a variety of IT systems which are essential to the performance of their day-to-day work including CRIS, PACS and Cerner. To ensure the accuracy of data quality in line with departmental policies and procedures (i.e. name, date of birth, address, postcode, GP and telephone number) are all current and correct. Research and development The post holder will: Utilise skills to analyse and synthesise research findings and implement to deliver evidence-based practice within the clinical areas. Participate in both clinical and organisational audit as required, to continually evaluate the effectiveness of the service. Freedom to Act The post holder will: Work in accordance with the hospital and department policies, procedures, and guidelines. Be responsible for own Professional Accountability Other Responsibilities The post holder will: Have a flexible approach to how contracted hours of work are scheduled and work location.
