Summary

JOB PURPOSE/SUMMARY The Embedded Researcher will develop and deliver a research project, aimed at researching a future substantive CSU or organisational role. The role will develop parameters to describe and measure the optimum breadth and impact of this role within MMPS CSU as an embedded profession-specific researcher. The role will be the Principal Investigator for the research project and will Chair a research project board consisting of representatives from MMPS, R&I and the relevant CSUs. The post holder will lead, direct, develop and communicate the Pharmacy-led research strategy, working across Leeds and with a wide network of research and innovation stakeholders. Research active Trusts improve outcomes and care of patients. The post holder will conduct research in order to evidence the specific aspects of medicines optimisation that contributes to this goal. PRINCIPAL DUTIES & AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY Be responsible for advising and leading the development of all Pharmacy staff as researchers, in collaboration with relevant leadership teams Establish, through research methodology and allied approaches a research successful network across Leeds Pharmacy community Develop and lead the implementation of approaches that will embed appropriate researcher skills within all LTHT MMPS Pharmacy staffs portfolios of competence. To be responsible for the establishment of a longer term plan or a permanent role within the CSU establishment based on their research findings The post holder will be required to work in close partnership with colleagues in the Universities of Bradford and Leeds and maintain and develop all partnership research activity with which teams are currently involved or may be involved in They will work on site, closely aligned to the Research & Innovation service in MMPS and within the Trust. The role will collaborate with the Trust Research and Innovation leadership team and the Research Lead for Nursing Midwifery and AHPs To lead applied research from within the Pharmacy services across Leeds working in close and harmonious collaboration with partners across the Leeds Health economy The researcher will add value to the MMPS CSU through delivery of applied research that makes a difference to our service delivery. Close and effective collaboration with Leeds Improvement Project leads will be required. To lead and develop the CSU Clinical Audit programme. To lead and champion research idea generation and realisation The post-holder will support pharmacy staff to make choices about how their own research ideas and development needs can be developed or conducted. The post-holder will foster collaborations with individuals and groups who are central to the research studies and topics that are pertinent at the time for the CSU. These may include clinicians, service users and managers. The post holder will facilitate partnerships between academia and service colleagues to combine knowledge in order to improve medicines optimisation and medicines safety research design and/or delivery. The post holder will work with multiple local partners to ensure that service/system transformation is catalysed using applied research. The post holder will undertake clinical practice in their area of expertise. The post holder will provide a minimum of at least one session per month of professional supervisory cover in an appropriate pharmacy setting. The post holder will be required to work evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays on a rotational basis.
