Formed from the coming together of two of the UK’s most respected biscuit manufacturers, Burton’s Biscuits and Fox’s Biscuits, FBC UK is now one integrated business producing some of the nation’s most iconic and best-loved brands. From Maryland and Fox’s to Jammie Dodger and Rocky, their products are enjoyed in households across the country, alongside partnerships with some of the UK’s biggest retailers and household names. While FBC UK currently holds the position of the UK’s second-largest biscuit manufacturer, their ambition is clear and unwavering: to become the market leader.
People are the key ingredient in FBC UK’s continued success. The passion, energy and commitment of their teams drive the business forward every day, and they are always looking for individuals who can bring fresh ideas, a positive attitude and a strong work ethic. Whether you’re the jam to their dodger, the party ring to their Fox’s or the choc-chip to their Maryland, this is your opportunity to play a part in something special.
As a Machine Operator, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of processing equipment while maintaining strict standards of quality, food safety, hygiene and health and safety. Your role will involve completing pre-start checks, operating departmental equipment safely and effectively, carrying out quality and specification checks, and diagnosing and resolving faults as they arise. You will work closely with Line and Process Leaders and other team members, liaise with engineering teams when required, support machine changeovers, and carry out line cleaning in line with required specifications. Thorough handovers at the start and end of each shift, along with correct start-up and shutdown of production lines, will be an essential part of your day. As your experience grows, you may also be asked to train new team members and learn additional plant and equipment.
To succeed in this role, you will need a good understanding of written and spoken English, along with basic numeracy skills. You should enjoy working as part of a team, be willing to support colleagues, and have the confidence to use your own initiative when required. Strong planning and organising skills will help you manage tasks effectively, while a focus on driving line efficiencies and controlling waste will support overall performance. The ability to diagnose faults, solve problems and follow instructions from Line and Process Leaders and Section Managers is essential, as is a willingness to learn, remain flexible across a variety of tasks and maintain a positive, can-do attitude.
