You will ensure infrastructure meets government standards for security, resilience, and availability, while fostering a collaborative, continuously improving engineering culture.

This is a hybrid role, requiring two days per week in the office, based at any National Highways office location.

  • Support our services, software and components to agreed KPIs and meet our business goals.
  • Ensure that deployment strategies at a medium level of complexity for products are repeatable, scalable and highly available to maximise our continuous improvement
  • Design and architect solutions and systems to a medium level of risk, impact and complexity using DevOps processes and to suitable design standards to deliver continuous improvement to National Highways and speed delivery.
  • Program and build (software engineering) software at a medium level of complexity as required for continuous improvement and delivery.
  • Deliver projects at a medium level of complexity using DevOps processes to meet our business needs, continuous improvement and delivery.

About you.

  • You bring academic and industry qualifications that demonstrate your expertise and credibility, including a degree in software engineering, cyber security, digital forensics (or a related field), and/or relevant industry certifications such as AWS, GIAC, or OSCP.
  • You are proficient in troubleshooting across diverse technology stacks, including compute, storage, networking, COTS, and open-source software.
  • You plan and coordinate system and acceptance testing across both functional and non-functional requirements.
  • You handle large data sets effectively, with experience scaling data processing and storage solutions.
  • You understand and apply Test-Driven Development principles.
  • You work with CI/CD tools and modern programming languages (e.g. Python, TypeScript) and actively identify opportunities for process improvement.
