Staff Nurse (Band 5)

Medical Acute Dependency Unit (MADU)
Wexham Park Hospital – Medicine Directorate

Are you an experienced and motivated Nurse looking to grow, develop, or take your career in a new direction? We are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity to join the Medical Acute Dependency Unit (MADU) at Wexham Park Hospital.

MADU is a 16-bed specialist unit delivering a high-quality, evidence-based, and patient-centred model of care for patients presenting with Level 1 and Level 2 acute medical conditions.

The unit specialises in the care of patients with complex respiratory conditions, including:

Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)

Asthma

Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD)

In addition, the team provides expert nursing care for patients with:

Tracheostomies and laryngectomies

Home NIV (non-invasive ventilation)

Chest drains

Acute metabolic conditions, including Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA), managed in line with Trust DKA policies

• Provision of nursing care for patients with a variety of acute condition

• Co-ordinating the care of patients across the multi-disciplinary team

• Responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of individual patient care with minimal supervision

• To work as part of the multi-disciplinary team to ensure that treatments are correctly carried out in accordance with given policy
