Summary

We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a Permanent Bid Writer to join our team at Amey. This role will be remote with occasional travel to our London and Birmingham offices.

The salary is £35,000 - £45,000 dependent on experience.

The hours of work are 37.5 hours per week.

We’re looking for an experienced, proactive Bid Writer to join our centralised bidding function and work with other writers and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to deliver accurate, client‑focused responses for high value strategic bids.

You’ll be the sort of person who’s keen to jump onto a new bid, work with a range of stakeholders and bring creative ideas on how we can improve our output and processes.

While you’ll be focused on supporting our Complex Facilities Management business, there’ll be ample opportunity to work across bids for our Transport & Infrastructure and Consulting businesses. You’ll be a key player in helping Amey to meet its growth ambitions.

We are increasingly working on bids in the nuclear and defence sectors, so this role will require you to gain BPSS Security Clearance once in post.

What you will do:

Read and analyse client documentation, picking out key requirements and ambitions to ensure solutions provide maximum benefit and relevance
Determine bid response structure and lead storyboard sessions with SMEs to create answer plans
Draft responses and work with SMEs to action comments and ensure accuracy
Work closely with Graphic Designers to visually enhance responses
Ensure consistency to quality and word count requirements
Collaborate with Bid Management to overcome any barriers so deadlines are met
Proactively improve efficiency of the bid process, including developing evidence and boilerplate passages that can be reused; interviewing SMEs for new knowledge
Leverage our AI tool to support content generation for bids
Support the post-tender lessons learned process to help embed continuous improvement in bid writing.

What you will bring:

At least 1-2 years’ experience in bidding; this may be in a complex facilities management, transport, infrastructure or consultancy setting
Excellent writing ability: you must be confident writing and editing high-quality content to deadlines
Knowledge of public sector procurement and bidding best practice
Resilience, flexibility and positivity to support multi-stage bids
Experience of developing and maintaining knowledge information libraries
Excellent verbal communication skills with the confidence to interact with a variety of internal stakeholders at all organisational levels and develop relationships to establish trust, credibility and respect
