About us
StreamAMG is a leading provider of live and on-demand video services, working with major sports, media and betting organisations
worldwide. We deliver over 15,000 live events each year, combining deep video expertise with cloud-native technology to create
reliable, high-quality streaming experiences at scale.
We’re committed to an inclusive workplace and hybrid working. If you need adjustments during the recruitment process, our team is
here to support you.
About the role
We’re looking for a Video Operations Engineer to help deliver and operate StreamAMG’s live video services.
You’ll be responsible for the operational readiness, reliability and continuous improvement of our end-to-end (glass-to-glass)
live video workflows. Working closely with Solutions Architecture, Engineering, Product and Operations, you’ll turn designs into
production-ready services and keep them running smoothly under live conditions.
This role combines hands-on video engineering with cloud and CDN operations, with a strong focus on resilience, performance, cost
control and incident response.
How your role will contribute
* Implement and operate live video workflows across contribution, processing, distribution and playback
* Own operational validation of end-to-end live streaming services
* Operate cloud-based media workflows using AWS Media Services
* Configure and manage delivery using Akamai Media Services Live and CDN capabilities
* Work with Architecture and Engineering to create robust deployments, monitoring and runbooks
* Ensure services meet customer requirements for devices, formats, latency and scale
* Optimise video quality, latency, reliability and cost
* Implement DRM and live streaming security controls
* Lead and support incident response, root cause analysis and service improvements
* Track operational SLIs/SLOs and drive continuous improvement
* Maintain clear operational documentation and procedures
About you.
You’re an experienced live video or streaming operations engineer who’s comfortable owning production systems. You’re methodical,
calm under pressure, and motivated by building reliable, well-run services.
You’ll bring
* Experience operating end-to-end live video workflows
* Strong understanding of encoding, packaging and codecs (e.g. H.264/H.265, AAC)
* Hands-on experience with AWS Media Services and Akamai delivery
* Knowledge of OTT streaming formats and protocols (HLS/DASH)
* Experience with incident management, resilience and operational best practice
* Ability to manage cloud and CDN costs and explain trade-offs clearly
It would also be useful to have
* Experience with live sports or large-scale live events
* Familiarity with monitoring, QoE/QoS metrics and observability tools
* Experience with automation or infrastructure-as-code
* Understanding of anti-piracy or live stream protection
What we offer
* Competitive salary
* 25 days’ holiday (plus purchase scheme)
* Enhanced family leave
* Wellbeing and volunteering days
* Life assurance and pension contribution
* The chance to work on high-profile live sports and media streaming platforms
