Summary
Job Title: Nursery Handyman / Maintenance Operative
Location: Across 9 nurseries in Rotherham, Doncaster & Sheffield
Hours: 20 hours per week (flexible across sites)
Reports to: Senior Management Team
About the Role
We are looking for a reliable, practical and proactive Handyman to support the upkeep and safety of our group of 9 busy nurseries across South Yorkshire. This role is vital in ensuring our environments remain safe, welcoming and well maintained for children, families and staff.
You will carry out day-to-day repairs, maintenance and general upkeep across all sites.
Own transport is essential due to travel between nurseries.
Key Responsibilities
General maintenance and minor repairs (doors, locks, shelving, fixtures, outdoor equipment)
Basic plumbing tasks such as leaks, taps and toilets
Basic electrical tasks such as changing lights and fittings
Painting and decorating as required
Maintaining outdoor areas and play spaces
Carrying out basic health & safety checks and reporting issues
Assisting with furniture assembly, room moves and site set-ups
Communicating with nursery managers about maintenance needs
Working in line with safeguarding and health & safety policies
Essential Requirements
Experience in maintenance, handyman or similar role
Practical, hands-on skill set
Own transport and full driving licence
Reliable and able to work independently
Friendly and professional around children and staff
Desirable
Experience in nursery, school or care settings
Trade qualifications or maintenance background
Health & safety knowledge
