Secondary Teaching Assistant | Alfreton (DE55) | £410 and £440 a Week (after deductions) | Long Term Role | Starting 23rd February 2026
The Opportunity:
- Provide academic and pastoral support to students across a range of subjects in years 7, 8 & 9 (Key Stage 3) in a mainstream secondary school.
- Proven experience supporting children on a 1:1 basis.
- Ability to work collaboratively with the class teacher and wider team.
- Full-time role, Monday to Friday. Paid up to £110 per day, term-time only.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work under the guidance of the SENCO to deliver tailored support strategies
- Provide 1:1 and small group assistance to students with a variety of special educational needs across all years
- Support students to remain engaged and focused on lessons, adapting resources where needed
- Assist with differentiation, coursework, and organisation to help students access the full curriculum
- Help maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment through strong behaviour management skills
- Liaise regularly with teaching staff and the SEN team to monitor progress and adjust support strategies accordingly
Who We're Looking For:
- A minimum Level 3 qualification (essential).
- Experience working in a secondary school or supporting students with SEN.
- A patient, adaptable, and supportive approach to working with students.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with staff, students, and parents.
- Ability to inspire and encourage students, creating a positive learning environment.
- A strong commitment to safeguarding and student well-being.
