Summary
Location: Sunderland (Home-based 1:1 support)
Hours: Days / Nights / Weekend shifts available
Pay: £14.00 per hour, £14.50 per hour at weekends (depending on experience) Start Date: ASAP (subject to checks and training)
About the Role
We are looking for a caring, reliable and confident Personal Assistant to support an adult man living at home with complex health needs. He requires support with tracheostomy care, ventilation, cough assist, and catheter care.
This is a rewarding 1:1 role supporting independence, dignity, safeguarding, and quality of life. Full training and competency sign-off will be provided.
Main Duties
Supporting with tracheostomy care (including suctioning as trained)
Supporting with ventilation (monitoring and responding appropriately)
Using cough assist equipment as part of respiratory care
Supporting with catheter care (monitoring output and maintaining hygiene)
Personal care and maintaining comfort and dignity
Positioning, pressure care and moving/handling (as required)
Supporting with meals, hydration and medication (as trained/authorised)
Observations and monitoring for changes in condition
Accurate record keeping and reporting concerns promptly
Following care plans, risk assessments and agreed ways of working
Essential Requirements
A calm, patient and respectful approach
Good communication skills and ability to work 1:1
Willingness to complete specialist training and follow procedures
Reliable, professional, and able to maintain confidentiality
Enhanced DBS check required
Right to work in the UK
Desirable (Not Essential)
Experience in complex care or healthcare support
Experience with tracheostomy, ventilation, cough assist or catheter care
NVQ Level 2/3 Health & Social Care or Care Certificate
Driving licence (depending on location)
