Summary
Right across infrastructure, there’s a requirement to not only maintain, but also renew and reimagine. Whatever stage you’re at in your career, with us you’ll have an opportunity to grow and develop. Delivering essential infrastructure services for life, while being safety first, and client and customer centric in a friendly, fun and respectful environment where you are encouraged to thrive.
Where will you be working?
At M Group Energy, we’re enabling the energy essential to support our lives.
We provide an end-to-end service, delivering solutions in electricity transmission, distribution, renewable energy, EV, metering and home decarbonisation.
This role will be within our Metering team. You’ll join the leading provider of metering services in the UK energy retail sector, we provide efficient and flexible services for gas, electricity and water meters.
Our meter readers install, maintain and manage meters to make sure customers are billed correctly and energy usage patterns are monitored.
Want to come and be a part of it?
What will you be doing?
As a Bid Writer, you’ll play a central role in helping us shape, articulate and win the work that keeps essential infrastructure running. This is a dynamic, high‑visibility role where you’ll influence strategy, collaborate with experts across the business and create responses that stand out for clarity, confidence and quality. This is a hybrid role with 2 days per week in our Newcastle HQ.
Your day could include:
- Taking full ownership of written bid responses — interpreting client requirements, shaping solution structure and producing persuasive, well‑crafted content
- Facilitating storyboarding and planning sessions to agree win themes, narrative flow and key messaging
- Asking insightful questions to challenge assumptions, strengthen solutions and ensure our proposition is fully aligned to client needs
- Collaborating closely with engineers, operational leads and senior stakeholders to bring together technical excellence, ESG commitments, social value and innovation
- Supporting the development of graphics, diagrams or visual layouts that help make complex ideas simple and engaging
- Capturing lessons learned, updating the content library and continuously improving templates, tools and bid processes
If you enjoy connecting people, ideas and strategy — and turning all of that into bid responses that make an impact — this is the role for you.
What you’ll bring
We’re looking for someone who combines strong writing ability with strategic thinking and the confidence to influence others:
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience delivering major tenders or frameworks within a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment
- Exceptional writing skills — able to simplify complexity, structure compelling narratives and adapt tone to client expectations
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build relationships, facilitate workshops and influence thinking at all levels
- A strategic mindset — someone who doesn’t just write what they’re given, but shapes solutions, challenges assumptions and adds value
- High attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously
- Advanced MS Word and strong MS Office skills; design or layout experience (InDesign or similar) is a bonus
- APMP certification (Foundation or Practitioner) preferred, or a willingness to work towards it
- The ability to travel for workshops, interviews or stakeholder engagement sessions when required
- A proactive attitude, resilience under pressure and a genuine enjoyment of collaboration and continuous improvement
What’s in it for you?
We offer a range of benefits designed to support your life in and out of work, some of which include;
• Matched or contributory pension scheme
• Online GP service, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year
• Employee assistance programme
