Shift Pattern: Monday - Friday. 37hrs per week | Core hours 9.30am-3.30pm, flexi time also available.
Pay Rates (Inside IR35):

Could you be our clients next Material Planner, managing critical material requirements and enhancing supply chain performance in a transformative rail industry environment?
About The Role
Take on a new challenge within the UK Supply Chain function and apply your expertise in material planning to support a major growth programme. You will report to the Supply Chain Manager and work alongside a dedicated and skilled team.
On a day-to-day basis, you will manage material requirements using SAP, ensuring effective planning and coordination in a fast-paced environment. You will be responsible for validating demand, creating requisitions, and maintaining MRP parameters to ensure material availability. The role involves close collaboration with both internal and external teams to resolve material shortages while ensuring compliance with quality and operational standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Review Material Requirements Planning (MRP) outputs to assess material needs
- Validate demand and generate requisitions, including transfers, in line with requirements
- Measure and report on planned orders and requisitions requiring additional sourcing data
- Maintain MRP parameters (order points and policies) to optimise supply based on lead times and costs
- Create depot-specific Material Masters for new items
- Identify and manage obsolete materials in collaboration with Stores Management for disposal
- Provide additional reporting data, including Line of Business (LOB) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), as required by Supply Chain
- Ensure compliance with procedures and processes, maintaining accurate Material Master records
- Support supply chain activities for identified projects and requirements
- Act as an ambassador for the Supply Chain function internally and externally
- Liaise with project teams at depots and plants regarding material-related issues
- Manage material shortages and coordinate transport requirements to ensure availability
- Expedite critical materials and take responsibility for order placement
- Interface with other functions to address emerging material issues and project risks
- Develop action plans to resolve material shortages ahead of kit requirements
- Attend weekly or daily production meetings during overhaul programmes as required
- Identify kitting requirements and develop/manage storage media (Kanban) for consumable materials at the point of use
About You
Essential
- Proven experience in material planning, supply chain, or production planning, ideally within a manufacturing environment
- Experience using SAP is essential to this role
- Educated to A-Level or equivalent
- Ability to make decisions and act with a sense of urgency
- Strong team spirit and communication skills
- Sound understanding of costing, planning, and risk management practices

- Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field
