Summary

Subsidy and Overpayments Assistant
Salary between £27423 and £32439 per annum.

Based at Kings Court Council Offices, with hybrid home-working arrangements

We are looking for an organised and analytical individual to support our Benefits team with ensuring the accuracy of the Housing Benefit Subsidy Claim and helping to maximise recovery of Housing Benefit overpayments.

In this role, you will carry out quality checks on benefit assessments, help prepare subsidy estimates and audit information and monitor overpayments to ensure they are correctly classified and recovered.

You will review overpayment cases, issue recovery letters, agree payment plans and liaise with the DWP and other agencies. You will also take part in software testing for system upgrades and new releases.

You will have the IRRV certificate qualification (or equivalent) with experience of working in a benefits environment, including extensive knowledge of Housing Benefit and Council Tax Support Legislation and an understanding of benefit subsidy legislation and procedures. You will have strong analytical and numerical skills, excellent IT ability, with clear communication skills and attention to detail.
