Summary
The General Surgery Department provides the following services: General Surgery Colorectal Upper Gastro-Intestinal Breast Paediatric Surgery Emergency and elective work is covered by the department mainly across Abbotsbury and Lulworth wards, however sometimes our patients may be looked after on ICU, Purbeck, Ridgeway or the Childrens ward Kingfisher. The post will be based on 10 programmed activities (PAs) plus an additional 2 PAs, reflecting on-call commitments and service requirements. The distribution of duties will be agreed through the jobplanning process and reviewed periodically in line with service need and contractual arrangement. The post holder will participate in the General Surgery middle-grade on-call rota. At the time of appointment, the rota frequency is anticipated to be approximately 1 in 10.On-call frequency may be subject to reasonable variation depending on staffing levels and service configuration. Any changes will be managed in accordance with the Specialty Doctor contract, Trust policy, and reasonable notice, following discussion and agreement through the job-planning and rota management processes
