Here at Hays, we are working with a large regulated public sector body to recruit an experienced and highly organised Personal Assistant to provide professional, confidential, and proactive support to the Chief People Officer and wider HR leadership team.

This role sits within a fast‑paced, highly regulated environment where accuracy, discretion, and the ability to anticipate needs are essential. The ideal candidate will bring proven PA experience at senior level, preferably within a regulated or compliance‑driven organisation, and an understanding of HR operations and sensitivities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide high‑level PA support to the Chief People Officer, including complex diary management, inbox oversight, and scheduling of internal and external meetings.
  • Coordinate travel arrangements, briefings, and meeting packs to ensure the CPO is fully prepared for all engagements.
  • Act as the first point of contact for the CPO, prioritising enquiries and ensuring timely, high‑quality responses.
  • Work closely with the HR leadership team to support meetings, documentation preparation, and day‑to‑day administrative needs.
  • Assist with preparing papers for HR governance meetings, workforce planning discussions, and people‑related forums.
  • Handle sensitive HR correspondence and documentation with the highest level of confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Represent the CPO and HR function with professionalism and discretion at all times.

Experience Required:

  • Proven experience as a PA or EA supporting senior leaders within a highly regulated environment (e.g., government, financial services, healthcare, legal, or similar).
  • Strong understanding of HR processes, confidentiality requirements, and people‑related documentation.
  • Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills, with the ability to manage competing demands in a fast‑moving environment.
  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and professional judgement.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong IT proficiency (Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work independently, anticipate needs, and take initiative.
  • Demonstrated discretion and integrity when managing sensitive and confidential information.
