The Acute Medicine and Same Day Emergency Care Service at Wythenshawe Hospital (part of Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust) is looking for an enthusiastic and well-motivated Senior Locally Employed Doctor (ST3 level) to join our team.
We are looking to fill x2 posts:
1 WTE and 1 0.65 WTE, please specify which role (or both) you are interested in as part of your supporting information.
This post provides a great opportunity to gain significant experience in a busy 56-bedded acute medical unit and our same day emergency care unit (SDEC) The successful candidates will be working alongside 12 consultants within Acute Medicine. You will also work alongside 1 other Registrar level doctor, 2 IMT3’s, 4 SHO grade trainees, 1 FY1, 7 JCFs, 3 PAs and 3 ACPs. The successful candidates will be supported by multiple teams of allied health professionals.
There is ample opportunity to take part in teaching, Quality Improvement Projects, small research projects and to produce case reports for publication at this University Hospital. The acute medical unit puts on a weekly lunchtime teaching session which you will be encouraged to attend and participate in. Additionally, there are hospital wide Grand Rounds, journal clubs, lunch time lectures.
Duties will include:
• Review of ward inpatients and formulation of management plans
• Preparation for and attendance on consultant ward rounds
• Assessment and management of patients via SDEC
• Liaison with a multidisciplinary team of health care professionals and with the patient’s Primary Health Care team to ensure an excellent clinical journey
• Ensure all results are acted upon appropriately
• Involvement in Quality Improvement, and teaching of undergraduates and postgraduates
• Support and supervision of junior colleagues
• To undertake any other duties deemed appropriate when requested by Senior Staff
