Summary
Accounts Assistant / Office Administrator
Location: Danbury, Essex (office based)
Hours: Monday to Friday – school hours considered
Salary: £35,000 – £40,000 FTE (pro-rata) or £17 – £21 per hour, depending on experience and contract type
We are seeking an experienced Accounts Assistant / Office Administrator to support our full-time bookkeeper and manage varied office responsibilities within a busy office environment.
This is a hands-on accounts support role, not a data-entry-only position. Previous accounts experience and strong Excel skills are essential.
The role may be offered on a temporary or freelance basis initially, with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.

Duties include:
• Supporting the bookkeeper with day-to-day accounts tasks
• Processing invoices and payments and assisting with reconciliations
• Maintaining Excel spreadsheets and producing reports
• Identifying discrepancies and escalating issues
• Processing customer orders and handling enquiries
• General office administration
• Liaising with suppliers, couriers, and customers

Essential requirements:
• Previous experience in an accounts assistant or bookkeeping role
• Strong Excel skills, including formulas and structured spreadsheets
• Working knowledge of accounting software (Xero preferred)
• Good understanding of basic accounting principles
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
• Confident communication skills
