Job Summary

Do you want a career where you can truly make a difference every single day? Imagine coming to work and being greeted with smiles, laughter, and the knowledge that the care and support you provide is shaping a child’s future. As a Childcare Assistant in our Flying Start team, you’ll play an important role in giving children in our community the very best start in life. This isn’t just a job – it’s an opportunity to be part of something meaningful, where your energy, creativity, and compassion will have a real and lasting impact. You’ll work in a supportive environment, surrounded by a friendly team who share your passion for helping little ones grow, learn, and flourish.

About the role

In this exciting role, you’ll be at the heart of the Flying Start programme, working with children aged 2–3 years to provide high-quality childcare. You’ll support the Childcare Leader and wider team in planning and delivering fun, stimulating sessions that encourage every aspect of a child’s development – from building social skills and confidence, to sparking curiosity and creativity through play. Every day brings something new! You might be creating exciting sensory opportunities, supporting imaginative role play, exploring nature outdoors, or helping children develop confidence through fun learning experiences.
You’ll also play an important role in working closely with families, building positive relationships with parents and carers, and celebrating children’s progress together.

There’s plenty of scope to grow within the role too. You may become a Key Worker for a small group of children, where you’ll plan opportunities for exploration, track their progress, and create individual play plans that really help them shine. You’ll be encouraged to bring your own ideas, contribute to team planning, and take part in training and development opportunities that will help you build your skills and confidence in childcare.

About you

We’re not just looking for qualifications or experience – we’re looking for the right person. Someone who is warm, enthusiastic, and genuinely cares about helping children have the best start in life. You’ll be patient, kind, and able to create a safe and nurturing environment where every child feels valued. Teamwork is really important to us, so you’ll enjoy working closely with colleagues and families, sharing ideas, and supporting each other to deliver the very best childcare.

If you’ve already worked in childcare, fantastic – you’ll be able to bring your skills and experience to the team. But, if you’re newer to the field, – what matters most alongside your qualifications and experience is your attitude, commitment, and willingness to learn. We’ll provide the training, support, and opportunities for you to grow your career. If you’re passionate about making a difference, you’ll thrive here.
