Full job description
We are recruiting for our client who is a National provider of Highway Maintenance, Civil engineering and Innovative Pot Hole repairs. Working in the Civils division of the company, alongside major Clients, installing & maintaining footways in on a PFI contract and various other small schemes. To be based in Surrey, the NRSWA supervisor will manage up to five teams delivering civils work nationwide. It is expected that the NRSWA supervisor will be proficient in either Civils & or Highways maintenance projects, both backgrounds will be considered due to the combined workload.
Key Responsibilities:
· As a NRSWA Supervisor you will be supervising teams of employees or Sub-contractors, working on various small to large sized projects. Main focus: On time Product delivery, Health & safety management and Quality of workmanship.
· As NRSWA Supervisor you will be required to monitor work to ensure noticing/ Permits adherence and the Client timescales are met
· Liaision with the contract management team on efficient scheduling of work to deliver optimum outputs from the teams.
· Review and closure of all Corrective Actions / Improvement Actions raised against works.
· Liaising with Local Authorities and Clients on a regular basis
· Carrying out audits to ensure that work sites meet NRSWA and Health & Safety standards
· Ensure that all staff and sub-contractors under supervision are competent, fully trained, are aware of all requirements and have been fully approved, appraised and/or inducted before starting on site
· Ensure all productivity targets are achieved
· You will be required to ensure all work on site is carried out safely and to adequate standards as stated in the contractual specification
· Ensure that all work is recorded, team measure sheets are completed, accurately and authorised.
· Ensure that the movement and usage of labour, plant and materials are carried out in the most efficient manner possible
· You will be required to carry out Pre Site Inspections on Developer driven works & works that are deemed to be in traffic sensitive areas.
· Project delivery focus, resolution and escalation with regular contact with operatives regarding operational issues including welfare and H&S.
· Regular communication with the contract management team regarding progress and risk to timely completion.
· Carry out risk assessments/surveys and ensure correct documentation is in hand and completed before start of works, including safe dig permits.
· Conduct 1:1s, team briefs and tool box talks
· Responsibility for minimizing cost of failure and own improvement plans associated with poor performance in your designated area.
· Carrying out of site meetings with Client representatives to agree Traffic Management requirements for jobs and arrange the necessary drawings.
· The NRSWA will occasionally need to provide cover for operatives or other Supervisors as required and will report to the contract management team.
Key Person Requirements:
· As a NRSWA Working Supervisor you should vastly be experienced in kerbing, paving and surfacing works and looking to make the transition from operative to supervisor.
· Experience in leading one or numerous teams/gangs in highways maintenance projects.
· Knowledge of civils projects would be a distinct advantage along with general utility experience.
· Demonstrable supervisory experience with ability to motivate personnel
· You should have a good, up to date knowledge of the New Roads and Street-works Act (NRSWA) and the Traffic Management Act (TMA)
· Flexible and adaptable to varying workloads and a relationship style with ability to gain credibility with key decision makers.
· IOSH managing safely or SMSTS/similar
· Driving licence
· You should be proficient in Microsoft packages and be a good communicator
