Are you a friendly, empathetic and caring person who enjoys helping others and providing great customer service? Someone who is still as positive and enthusiastic at the end of their shift as they were at the start?
We are seeking motivated individuals to join our dynamic security team here on our thriving and energetic campus. The successful applicants will enjoy a competitive salary with generous 27% shift pattern allowance, and an attractive, flexible shift pattern with a focus on work and life balance, which is why most of our staff have been with us for many years.
Previous security experience is not necessary – our primary aim is the support and welfare of students and staff. All other elements of the role can be learnt, and training will be provided.
The postholder will be responsible for matters relating to
the safety and welfare of students, staff and visitors
the security of university buildings and other property on and off campus
the protection of personal property of students, staff and visitors
the control of traffic and parking
Applicants must ensure that any application separately evidences all the essential criteria to assist with shortlisting.
A full driving licence is an essential requirement.
Job Purpose
To deploy as a member of the university security function, your main duties will be to provide uniformed patrols on a rotating shift pattern of twelve-hours, starting at 6 am on day shifts and 6 pm on night shifts.
The shift pattern is as follows
4-night shifts Monday to Thursday, followed by 7 rest days
3-night shifts Friday to Sunday followed by 4 rest days
3-day shifts Friday to Sunday followed by 2 rest days
2-day shifts Wednesday to Thursday followed by 3 rest days
3-day shifts Monday to Wednesday followed by 4 rest days
This means you will work 15 shifts over a 35-day period.
Patrols will involve foot, cycle, and use of vehicles, responding to incidents on university property, and will include responsibilities away from the University site either involving students or as part of other contracted security responsibilities.
Safety of the staff and students is our priority, in addition to ensuring the safety and welfare of all people connected with or visiting the University, the protection of university property and the regulation of vehicle movement on and around the University site.
