Summary

As an Electrical Engineering Apprentice, you’ll be helping to fault find and find ways to fix all our electrical issues we have on our sites. You will be learning about new and innovative technologies that will improve the way we work at Thames Water for years to come. What you’ll be doing as a Single Skilled Electrical Engineer Apprentice

Through your apprenticeship, you’ll gain hands-on knowledge, grow your abilities, and work closely with knowledgeable staff who will boost your development.

Main Accountabilities / Outputs:

- Helping to find faults and find ways to fix all our electrical issues we have on our sites.
- Working on electrical equipment which monitors and controls all aspects of Thames Water’s water and wastewater processes, and how they’re performing across the network.
- During the apprenticeship you’ll become qualified to carry out planned preventative and general maintenance of equipment.
- Modifying and rewiring.
- Testing, and inspecting, condition-based monitoring and fault finding within our systems.

Where you will work:

- 1x Crossness.
- 38 hours per week, Mon-Fri - hours to be confirmed - need to be at base location before 7:30am each day.

Training       

- Basingstoke College of Technology.
- You will be expected to attend the campus in Basingstoke, you will be expected to attend taught sessions on either day, or block release and some elements could be delivered on-line, we will support your attendance by paying for your accommodation and travel expenses in line with our business expense policy.

- Engineering maintenance technician - single discipline Level 3 standard.
- Included in standard Level 3 City & Guilds Diploma in Engineering.
- This apprenticeship aligns with Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) for Engineering Technician (EngTech) and the The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) for Engineering Technician (EngTech).
- Duration 36 months.

What you should bring to the role      

- A passion for engineering, an interest in how things work, how to fix problems and make solutions.
- Maths and English GCSE grades 9-4 or A-C or equivalent.
- Driving license isn’t needed for the apprenticeship but will need to be able to drive to offboard into a permanent position after completing apprenticeship.
